Farm field trip

Becca had another pre-school field trip - a hay ride, animals, donut holes, pumpkins, and a hay maze - she had lots of fun. It was way colder than we thought it would be though so her mitten-less hands were freezing at the end. I can't believe how wrinkly I look - vainty I know, this posting is supposed to be about Becca - SHE of course is ADORABLE!

Becca fed all the animals - these were black ducks. I've never seen anything like them - black and green feathers - the photo doesn't do them justice.

This family moved into our ward last year and we have had lots of fun with them. I have been able to practice my Mandarin with their newest member of the family - Jacob. They adopted him and brought him home from China last month. He laughs at me a lot so I must really stink, but it's very fun when we do get something right and understand each other :). The girls Katelyn and Keira are adorable and just older and younger than Laina and Becca. Their mom is our new activities commitee chair and I am on the activities committee. It has been fun to work with her.

What to do with THREE fish

Here are the three newest members of our family - Garrett's fish, Blotchy (the little one in front of the castle), Becca's Little Guy, (next in line to the right, next to the castle), and Kathryn's Spookster, (the big orange and black one).

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye already to Alaina's white and gold Goldie who didn't make it long enough to enjoy the new home.My personal thanks go out to our Activities Chair - Sister Becky White for these prizes :)

Seriously though - it was a wonderful ward activity and the kids are so happy. I even kind of like the tank - it's pretty and sounds nice - I hope the fish live for awhile!!!

Just an update, on Monday we bought Laina a new goldie - so now we have four fish again and they seem happy and healthy so far. . .

Church Fall Festival

We had a fall festival at Church with carnival games, a chili cook-off, carved pumpkin contest, costumes, and a 'trunk' or treat in the parking lot to end the evening.

Good Friends - This is Kat's best friend, isn't she beautiful in her candy corn witch costume? Her mom is beautiful sans costume just behind her. Friends are the best part of any activity like this.

Kit Kat and NinjaAll together and ready for some fun!This was the highlight of the night. A Goldfish toss.Throw a ping pong ball in one of the bowls and you get a goldfish - or goldfish crakers if you miss or your parents are mean and say no fish. I wanted to be mean but just couldn't do it.
With four kids trying, I was pretty sure we'd take one home - what will we do with a fish? It will need food, a home, and maybe rocks or a filter? ! But they don't live long do they?

As usual, I was wrong - we are now the lucky owners of four beautiful goldfish!! The kids are so happy, they can't talk about anything else.

I however am left to repeat my earlier question -

WHAT are we going to do with FOUR goldfish?

Garrett's first Raingutter Regatta

Garrett won second place in his first race

with an innovative 'hydroplane' design we found on-line.

His was the only boat without a mast or keel or rudder -

he named it speed.
All the boats together - the winning boat is on the bottom of the photo - the silver catamaran.
Getting the straws just right. He won this race.Ready, SET, BLOW!!!!

This is the second race, he one this too. He lost the next race, then won twice more before losing in the last race to the winner - the silver catamaran.

Lots of fun and a great showing for a first try!!! Yea Garrett!!

We have some ideas for improving the hydroplane design - the sail should have been all the way back, and a keel in the rear would have helped too, or we could try a catamaran design ourselves.

So next year - watch out first place!

Fall Colors for Mom

Just for my mom, she was asking me how the colors are so I tried to take some photos - Doesn't really do it justice, but still . . . I feel so lucky to be living here!!!!

The yearly Apple Picking Field Trip

A beautiful fall day in late September can only mean Apple Picking!!! All three kids have had this same field trip in school. It's so much fun. Here's Becca's Apple Picking adventure!
