Field Day for Laina

Slay the dragon! Race to the top! Slide down first! Alaina was proud to tell me that her friend fell just after this photo was taken but Laina kept going so she "won" and got down the slide first. Should I be worried that my sweet little girl is excited because someone fell so she could win?

At least she was happy to cheer on her friends in this event . . .

Garrett had field day too, but another dad from Laina's class took these photos. I don't have any of Garrett unfortunately.
His favorite event was knocking people off the balance beam with a padded pole! Ai, yi, yi! I guess that's what a medival themed field day is all about. They had a blast!

Kathryn's Busy Month

Kathryn really enjoyed the month of May

She is part of the rec's Track Team and they ran a distance challenge on the 16th. The distance challenge is a timed one hour run around the track on two separate days, one near the beginning of the season and one at the end. Parent volunteers keep track of how many laps they do and they get to see how much they can improve from the beginning of the program to the end. Kat ran 4 miles this time. (Her best last year was 5 miles, she was taking it easy this time around. She hopes to beat last year's distance at the end of the season.)

She also sang 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic' with two friends at her school's chorus concert,

Won first place in her grade on the local Elk Lodge's Drug Awarness poster contest,

AND celebrated her 11th birthday while we were camping over Memorial Day Weekend. Way to go Kat, we love you!

Healthy Snack for Scouts

Garrett was very proud of his healthy snack for cub scouts. He is very talented (and a little scary) with a knife. Everyone ate it - no leftovers.
